CCI RF - AN INTEGRAL LINK IN PROMOTING RUSSIAN BUSINESS IN THE ARAB DIRECTION
The XIIth Session of the Russian-Arab Business Council (RABS) and the IVth International Exhibition ARABIA-EXPO 2019 are held in Moscow.
These are large-scale events at which, according to tradition, the results of work with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa are summed up, tasks for the future are outlined.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov spoke at the opening ceremony of the Session. He noted that the holding of these events is a clear confirmation of mutual interest in strengthening and diversifying our trade and economic ties. S. Lavrov read out the greeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the participants and guests of the session and exhibition.
As noted in this document, the active work of the RADS creates the conditions for increasing trade exchanges, for the growth of mutual investments and for the implementation of promising joint projects in the fields of industry and agriculture, energy and high technology, transport and infrastructure. The most important area of the council's work is the holding of large-scale exhibitions "ARABIA-EXPO", which acquaint Russians with the latest economic, scientific and technical achievements of the Arab states, and help entrepreneurs to exchange business proposals and innovative ideas. The President expressed the hope that the current session of the council will be substantive, will allow to outline new forms and mechanisms of mutually beneficial cooperation and will serve to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between our peoples. Greetings on the occasion of these momentous events were also sent by the Chairman of the Russian government Dmitry Medvedev.
As S. Lavrov noted, the energetic political dialogue between Russia and the Arab states is complemented by rich trade and economic exchanges. Consistently increasing the volume of total turnover. Last year, it grew by more than 8 percent and reached $ 22 billion. Now Russian companies, together with Arab partners, are implementing more than 400 investment and export projects worth more than $ 40 billion, about 25 billion of which are planned to be financed from Russian state loans.
This topic was continued in his speech by the Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. He noted that joint funds have been created with almost all key Arab states. There are real results and numbers. This is a $ 10 billion joint investment. allocated by Saudi Arabia, $ 7 billion from the United Arab Emirates, etc.
By the way, 45 profitable projects in logistics, infrastructure and healthcare were invested with the UAE. There is significant potential for building up these investments. I especially thanked K. Dmitriev, the chairman of the RADC, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, for building important bridges between Russia and the Arab world.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov devoted most of his speech to the peculiarities of establishing and maintaining contacts with the business of the Middle East and North Africa. For 16 years now, with the easy hand of Yevgeny Primakov, he has been an active supporter of deepening and expanding cooperation with the Arab world. So far, according to V. Evtushenkov, we are at the stage of establishing mutual trust. But at the same time, we already have many friends among Arab businessmen with whom we can safely take on the most complex projects. He suggested not measuring the effectiveness of ARABIA-EXPO by the number and amount of contracts concluded. Its main task is to give people the opportunity to meet and get to know each other.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia took an active part in the preparation and organization of the RADS session and exhibition. In an interview with the CCI-Inform video channel, its vice president Vladimir Padalko, in particular, noted that the figures cited in the speech of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry in the federal chamber were perceived as starting points in the work of the entire RF CCI system. Since the days of the Soviet Union, the Arab direction has been among the priorities in our international trade and economic activity. And the fact that today about 500 Arab participants and about 1,500 of their Russian colleagues gathered in the Manege indicates a great interest in this cooperation and the role played by the RF CCI in the process of expanding and strengthening contacts with representatives of the Arab business world.
